Cost Accountants Win Again September 4, 2010 kenja (Renton, WA United States) These are inferior to the original product. I just run without any filter at all now.
How much does it cost to ship 2 ounces? August 28, 2010 Shawn I have purchased items from Entirely Pets many times in the past, usually something bulky as well as the small 2-3 oz package of water filters for my pet fountain. They have always shipped them together and charged me just the one shipping charge. I suppose it's my own fault that I didn't notice they were charging me over $5.00 shipping on my one little $5.99 item! I won't be buying that online again, at least not from Entirely Pets. The good side is that at least I received the small order(they sent it good ol US Mail, was here within 2 days). The large order they sent out via ONTRAC(don't think they've used them before), and now my package is in limbo somewhere after the delivery guy showed up ONCE, and marked the delivery tag that he had been here three days in a row!!!
Not very happy with the whole experience this time around!!!

To my mind, there is little more annoying than when a company trots out an "upgrade" product that turns out to be much worse than the original.
These filters render the fountains UNUSABLE in my area (yes, 'tis likely different areas are prone to different microorganisms which may be handled more or less effectively by different products). I get algae sliming up the works within one or two days. God knows what kind of bacteria are thriving in commensal or symbiotic relationships with this algal slime...
I am back to running my faucets day-and-night because my cats will not drink out of bowls. They USED to love drinking out of the Pet Fountain, but will not use it for more than a day or two after it has been fully disassembled and cleaned with bleach.
A few quality control tests would have easily allowed the manufacturer to realize what we have all realized... this product is completely ineffective and a wretched down-grade from the previously-supported filter.
Whoever was involved in developing this product has brought ignominious disgrace upon a formerly beloved company...
Found Live worms in Charcoal !!! July 25, 2010 The Wykked One (NY, USA) I bought these filters and found live black worms about 1/4 inch long! The worms appeared in about a week and were clinging to the filter. I bought multiple packs, as I have more than 1 fountain and all the filters got the worms. The worms appeared in about a week. The filters are replaced regularly and even more frequently in warm weather. My cats are indoor cats and fed the best of the best food, so I know for sure the worms were in the charcoal. If you use these filters place them in boiled water for a few minutes, rinse them with hydrogen peroxide and rinse with fresh water again, also complain directly to the company! 1-877-PETMATE (1-877-738-6283) customer service.
Fresh Kitty water July 15, 2010 Kenneth B. Paton (Centennial, Co USA) The unit is easy to setup. It runs well, and the cats liked it after a couple days of getting familiar with it. I would have liked to have gotten a couple extra filters with it. Since I have two cats, I still need to refill it every two days or so. The filter seems to work well, and after about a month I have chosen to replace the filter in it for the first time. Everything is quite simple to do. I recommend this product.
