 Great bed with a design issue July 28, 2010

This is a great bed for keeping your canine off the floor/ground. For that I give it five stars. Sooner or later though as expected the bedding material will wear out and need replacing. If the bed has been used indoors, no problem to dis-assemble and replace (I assume). If used outdoors, as mine was for two years, you will find the bolts holding the frame together will have rusted shut, impossible to break loose and back out. I live next to the ocean, so that may be an additional factor. Of necessity you have to screw the bolts in tightly to maintain support integrity, and that's how they remain if the bed is used outside.
My next bed I'm applying some Bostik Never-Seez Mariner's Choice when assembling.

Worth the money overall. They work fine for leaving in one space but I worry that because I put them down at night and then up during the day that the screws that put them together will loosen up. I guess that's what screwdrivers are for though. All in all a fantastic bed at a bargain price. I have three dogs that I bought two of these beds for. I have a very large 65 lb. Labrador and two medium cats. The Lab sleeps on one and the two medium cats sleep on the other one. They are suprisingly large beds and my dog and cats are content to lay on them. The great thing is how washable they are, just drag them into the back yard and hose them off. I had a naughty cat that was peeing on the plush cushiony dog beds I had before and he seems to have no desire to pee on these beds thank goodness. The only thing I would change is to make the beds a bit more nicely put together.

I bought this bed for my large dog (55 lbs) for the summer. He often goes swimming and this bed helps him stay clean while he dries off. He will sleep on this bed in the shade for hours. The large size is perfect for him...just enough room to lay comfortably. The bed was a little tricky to put together, but not bad if you have two people. I highly recommend this bed!

I purchased a medium and a large (for my medium & large dog) so they would have a cool place to lay on my hot deck. Well, the medium probably would have been plenty big enough for the large dog. Only problem is that the large dog does not have an interest in the Coolaroo. The little one however loves them and takes advantage of both of them. When I read some of the reviews I found it interesting that such a simple looking thing could be so difficult to put together. Well, the reviews were right - not an easy task. I can't even give any tips because I just kept wiggling and it somehow eventually fell into place. The large for some reason was a little easier - but maybe that's just because it was the second one I put together?

The dog is 10 years old and has arthritis. The concrete floor of her kennel is not good for her joints. Enter Coolaroo. Happy dog.
