Product Description
Made from actual fire hose material these dog toys are built to last. Woven nylon with a tough rubber core, webbed bungee handle, and double stitched ends provide excellent resistance to abrasion for hours of tugging and fetching. Superior strength in a soft durable dog toy. Large Tug 'N Fetch measures 4"w x 16 1/2"long.

4 out of 5 stars Just shy of indestructible   June 23, 2010
Michael G. Roberts
We have had this toy in active every-other-daily use for several years... the same one we originally ordered... minus the tug loop. We have an Entlebucher Sennenhund with titanium jaws, and the tug loop could not survive the vigorous tugging she subjected it to. Note that she did not chew the tug loop; she yanked it out, blasting it with her tugging! That tug loop lasted about two weeks, after which I cut off the dangling threads. The remainder (except for the squeaker) appears to be equivalent to "Kyjen Fire Hose Squeak 'n Fetch Dog Toy, Large, Red" available elsewhere in Amazon. Minus its tug loop, this toy has lasted longer than any other toy she has. One end is just like new... that's the end we hold for tug play. The other end is quite flattened by her jaws... and became so gradually over the course of several months. For some unknown reason our dog does not "scissor" this toy (using her side teeth to tear the fabric apart), as she does to any other stuffed toy, or she would likely have torn it apart pronto. She seems to understand that this one is strictly for tugging. So if you can get that through your dog's brain... this one will last... depending on how you define "last". We call it a winner. Pity the tug loop isn't as durable as the body of the toy, but the designers should be praised (have a treat!) for making it elastic, as that was intended to minimize shock to your wrist and arm as your dog's head tugs back and forth. Good idea, not quite perfect execution. Four stars.

5 out of 5 stars Great Interactive Toy   May 13, 2010

This is a great interactive toy- my dog loves to tug on it and fetch it (hence the name!). She has to work a bit harder to get a grip on it, compared to a fleece tug. I am sure she would chew the handle off if left alone with it. I am happy to have found it in TJMaxx for le$$.

2 out of 5 stars Did not last like I thought it would.   May 4, 2009

My retriever ate through it during the first 24 hours. She laid down and started chewing one corner until she had a hole and then started dismantling it. All the stuffing was out by the next day! Maybe your dog isn't as crazy but mine likes to "gut" her stuffed toys. We still have it minus the stuffing and she loves pulling on it and fetching it!

4 out of 5 stars Good but not indestructable   September 8, 2008
John Nichols
Have bought these before and have had good results. However, this time my dog (80lbs Bouvier) chewed thru the side of the toy. She must have be quite determined so I'm not sure it is fair to blame the toy. So, if you play with the dog and the toy, it is just fine but left alone, a dog could chew through it.

4 out of 5 stars not as durable as advertised   August 6, 2008
Rocaveli (CA)
cool product, the actual material of the tug IS very durable, but the flip side of that is my dog cant get a proper grip on the synthetic material. the 'rope' portion is much less durable, my dog had the elastic out after being left a couple of hours with the toy. still likes it though.

i prefer real dog tugs, made from jute. amazon unfortunately doesnt sell any.
