2 out of 5 stars Too many little flaws   March 10, 2010
Warrior Two (Berkeley, CA)
Bought this based on the glowing reviews, but it didn't work out. I used it with World's Best Cat Litter, which is a clumping litter but possibly too soft for this box. The urine-soaked litter would get caught in the trap and stay there, and since the box is in my bedroom closet, the urine smell would linger. Also, the area in which the cat does his business is really small, since half the box is taken up with the screened off compartment; when he started digging, he would throw litter out the front-facing door. The self-cleaning aspect was moot; sure, I collected a lot of waste in the little tray, but even after emptying it out I still had to dig around to get it clean. I traded this in a for Clevercat Top-Entry Box, which works much better in my closet (no litter getting thrown everywhere).

5 out of 5 stars It works!   March 9, 2010

I admit I was skeptical that cleaning a litter box could be any easier, but it really is. It's not the miracle box, but if you're tired of sifting through litter with a hand-tool, this takes care of that.

To empty it, all you do is roll it almost upside down, and all the loose litter falls through a sift. The chunks fall to the top and are caught in a thin tray; when you are finished, you pull the tray out and dump it.

I have 3 cats, and when I don't empty it often enough it can be even more of a hassle to empty (the tray and opening aren't that large), and sometimes the smaller chunks fall through the grate, but if you empty it regularly and do a more intense clean every once and a while, it works great.

Having a covered litter box is a help also, it greatly reduces the amount of litter scattered around the box.

I thought it rather expensive for a litter box, but considering how long I'll keep it, it's worth it. It's all plastic, and it sometimes seems the latches that keep the lid on are going to snap off, but so far no problems.

It was also a breeze to assemble; it comes with no more than a cardboard piece with a short list of instructions (snap this here, snap this here, voila).

I've had it a few months now, and consider it a worthwhile investment.

4 out of 5 stars Not Bad. Worth It.   March 8, 2010

I bought this product in order to speed up and make cleaning the cat litter box easier. Well, it worked, kind of. It is a vast improvement over a traditional litter box, but has a few flaws. First, the seperation grid that filters out the clumps is too big, so smaller clumps don't get picked up, and second, you have to clean it more often, since the remover scoop doesn't hold a lot of clumped material. But overall, I would say it was a good buy. PS, make sure you buy good clumping litter. I recommend Arm & Hammer.

5 out of 5 stars Kitty box to end all your woes!   March 7, 2010

This litter box is the only box you will ever need. Got a littermaid, throw it out. Have a regular one, throw it out. Neither of those work. This one does. It's perfectly engineered and makes cleaning your litter box once a day, easy and mess free. I love it, the kids actually will help me since it's so easy and no one has to touch litter. Only complaint is that if you don't change it often, then the clumps are too big for the drawer... but i suppose that serves you for being too lazy.
LOVE IT!

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use..prefer over the IRIS split top box   March 6, 2010
hemmaw (TN, USA)
First of all I did as other readers suggested and made sure I had everything securely latched so I have not had any problems as far as the box staying together. I also made sure I put the litter grate in the right direction. I have been using "The World's Best Cat Litter" which is made from corn and has worked well with this box. I love the ease of just turning the box over and then back up and emptying the drawer. Directions are right on top of the box so when you first start using it you know which way to turn it first. I really like this litter box. The only problem I have is one of my cats likes to back up to the entrance and manages to sometimes leave me something outside the box...but he does this with every litter box except another one I bought by IRIS which has the grate inside the box but at the entrance so he can't back up. Another consideration is that you have to have room to roll this litter box so if it is back in a corner you are going to have to bring it out. That is why I went with the IRIS litter box in another location of my house..but if I could have I would have used this Omega box there too because of the convenience factor with daily cleaning. The only advantage of the split lid IRIS litter box designed with the grate at the entrance is that it does dramatically cut down on tracking...however even the large of that type box is really small for my cats and they can barely turn around in it. As far as ease of daily cleaning I find the Omega even with some tracking on the mat outside easier to clean than the IRIS and the cats probably prefer the larger Omega. I did have to take the front split portion completely off the IRIS box before the cats would even consider using it.
